Duoliang Station

An abandoned platform suspended above the Pacific Ocean — Taiwan's most beautiful disused station

Duoliang Station is a disused stop on the Taiwan Railways South-Link Line. Passenger services were discontinued in 2006, but the station structure has been preserved. The platform is built into a hillside, facing the Pacific Ocean with no obstructions blocking the view. On clear days you can look out over a sweeping arc of coastline stretching to the horizon. It is widely known as Taiwan's most beautiful abandoned station.

Highlights of Duoliang Station

Duoliang Station is located beside Provincial Highway 9 on the South-Link section in Duoliang Village, Taimali Township. The station was built against a cliff face, with the platform jutting out at the hillside's edge at an elevation of about 80 meters. The station structure is a small concrete waiting shelter that has been largely preserved in its original state since the station closed. South-Link Line trains still pass through without stopping; occasionally a train can be seen sweeping past the platform, creating a striking image where railway and ocean scenery overlap.

The station faces southeast. At sunrise, the Pacific Ocean surface reflects intensely, making it a popular spot for photographers. On clear days the coastline extends from south to north, and on particularly fine days you can even see the horizon in the direction of Orchid Island. The slope drops steeply beyond the platform railing — do not climb over the fence. Parking space is limited; weekdays or non-holiday periods are recommended, as crowds are larger on holidays.

How to make the most of your visit

🌅
Sunrise photographyThe station faces the Pacific, so lighting is best at sunrise. Arrive early to secure your spot; in winter, sunrise is around 6:30 a.m.
🚂
Watching trains passSouth-Link Line trains pass Duoliang Station at irregular times. Check the Taiwan Railways timetable and time your visit for when a train is scheduled to pass.
📐
Curved coastline compositionThe view from the platform edge is wide open. The arc of the coastline photographs best when captured from either end of the platform; a wide-angle lens can take in more of the seascape.
🌊
Sea breeze and quiet atmosphereWith no more passengers, the station has shed its noise. The strong sea wind and the distant sound of waves create a distinctive sensory experience — a good place to slow down and linger.
