Taitung Railway Arts Village was converted from the former Taitung Rift Valley Line station dating to the Japanese colonial Showa period. The brick station building is now a county-designated historic monument. The complex hosts artist studios and is home to Tiehua Music Village, which regularly stages live music performances, making it the most culturally vibrant arts space in Taitung City.

Highlights of the Railway Arts Village

After the Taiwan Railways Taitung Line was rebuilt, the former Taitung Train Station was repurposed. The old station building is preserved intact, with brick walls, platform, and railway traces integrated into the current arts complex. The building is a Showa-era brick structure and is listed as a Taitung County historic monument, offering reference value for railway architectural history. The complex displays text and photographic materials tracing the development history of the Taitung Rift Valley Line.

The adjacent Tiehua Music Village is known for weekend live performances, bringing together Taiwan indigenous and independent music. The outdoor plaza is lively in the evening under the lights. The Tiehua Road area also hosts a cluster of Taitung-style craft and cultural creative shops for browsing and shopping. The complex has a different atmosphere by day and by night — the evening music program is one way to experience the local feel of Taitung life.
