Bird hides and birdwatching trails are available for visitors.

Highlights of Guandu Nature Park

Guandu Wetland holds a landmark place in Taiwan's wetland conservation history. It was declared a wildlife protection area in 1986 and opened to the public as a nature park in 2001. Habitats within the park include tidal mudflats, reed beds, ponds, and mangrove forest, with different environments attracting a diverse range of species. The bird hides have open viewing windows that allow visitors to observe waterbirds feeding at close range without disturbing them.

The peak period for migratory birds (October through April) is the best time to visit. Commonly observed species include the common teal, various herons and egrets, and a range of migrating shorebirds. In summer (May to September) it is the breeding season for resident species; the variety is narrower but parent birds raising chicks can be observed. The park's nature education center offers guided tours, suitable for families or educational visits. An entrance fee applies; check the official website for current prices.
