Zhuwai Fishing Harbor, alongside Keelung Bisha Fishing Harbor and Shimen Fuji Fishing Harbor, is counted among northern Taiwan's three major fishing harbors, and it sits just about 3 kilometers from Taoyuan International Airport. The harbor's direct seafood sales center has fresh seafood on the ground floor and a cooked-food area on the second floor. The rainbow steel arch bridge on the north side of the harbor is the most recognizable landmark, and on clear days you can watch aircraft flying low over the runway right from the waterfront.
Highlights of Zhuwai Fishing Harbor
Zhuwai Fishing Harbor is the main fishing port in Dayuan District. Various fishing vessels berth in the harbor, and the scene of boats coming and going in the early morning — with the day's catch being unloaded — reflects the everyday rhythm of traditional fishing. The direct seafood sales center focuses on locally caught seafood, with varieties changing by season and daily catch; crabs, clams, and fish are commonly available. The cooked-food area on the second floor offers ready-to-eat seafood, perfect for dining right at the harbor.
The rainbow steel arch bridge on the north side of the harbor spans the waterway with its colorful steel structure. At night, light projections create a striking visual effect. Because the airport is so close, you can watch aircraft taking off and landing from the harborside with the aircraft types clearly distinguishable to the naked eye — creating a unique combined experience in Taoyuan: a seafood market and aviation-watching at the same location at the same time.
