Longfeng Waterfall

Twin waterfalls in the hills of Qidu — reached by a streamside trail along a tributary of the Jilong River
📍 Keelung · Qidu District, Madong Road🏞️ Nature🔖 Waterfall Trail

Longfeng Waterfall is located in the hills of Qidu District. Two separate cascades split from the rock face before converging, with a drop of roughly ten-plus meters. The trail follows a tributary of the Jilong River upstream through secondary broadleaf forest; the waterfall is about 30 minutes on foot from the trailhead.

What to See at Longfeng Waterfall

The twin-cascade formation at Longfeng Waterfall is created by water splitting from the cliff face before reuniting — the name is drawn from a metaphor for the two streams. The drop is roughly ten-plus meters, and water volume varies noticeably with rainfall; the falls are at their fullest after heavy rain. The trail runs along the valley, where you can observe stream ecology and secondary forest vegetation; canopy cover keeps the trail environment relatively cool.

The trail surface is mainly unpaved earth, with some stepped sections. Keelung receives frequent rain, and the trail can be muddy after wet weather; rock surfaces are also prone to becoming slippery. The rock near the plunge pool is a slip hazard — keep a safe distance when viewing. There are no large visitor facilities; bring your own water.

How to Make the Most of Your Visit

💦
The Falls Are Fullest After RainWater volume is greatest the day after rainfall, when the waterfall is most impressive — but the trail will be slippery and extra care is needed.
🌿
Stream Valley EcologyThe trail follows the stream valley, offering chances to observe freshwater life and the secondary forest environment along the way.
👟
Wear Non-Slip FootwearDirt paths and rock surfaces become slippery when wet. Shoes with good grip are a basic safety requirement.
💧
Bring Your Own WaterThere are no water sources along the trail. Bring enough for the distance you plan to walk; in summer, staying hydrated is especially important.
