Xiushui Heming Community Green Tunnel

A 600-meter shaded corridor formed by trees planted by community residents — a model of rural community landscaping
📍 Changhua · Xiushui Township · Heming Community📷 Landmark🔖 Community Development

The Xiushui Heming Community Green Tunnel was created by local residents who collectively planted roadside trees, whose canopies now form a natural shaded corridor approximately 600 meters long — a representative example of community development in Changhua County. Rice paddies alongside the corridor preserve the traditional rural landscape, and the tranquil environment is well suited for a leisurely bicycle ride through the countryside.

Highlights of the Xiushui Heming Community Green Tunnel

Heming Community residents have spent decades planting and maintaining trees on both sides of the road. The predominant species include camphor trees and banyan trees — weather-tolerant broadleaf varieties whose canopies have grown progressively denser over the years, forming a continuous shaded green corridor. This corridor is a community public space maintained through residents' own initiative, not a government-developed tourist attraction. The results reflect the cohesion and self-reliance of this rural community in caring for its environment.

The corridor extends approximately 600 meters, with traditional rice paddies on both sides. In spring, the paddies glow bright green during transplanting; in autumn, they turn golden at harvest time — both seasons create a beautiful contrast with the lush green corridor, producing the quintessential pastoral scenery of Changhua's countryside. The environment is peaceful and quiet; when cycling through, keep your pace slow to fully appreciate the details of the rural landscape.

How to Make the Most of Your Visit

🚴
Cycle Through at a Leisurely PaceThe corridor surface is flat and approximately 600 meters long. Cycling slowly through is recommended to enjoy the cool shade of the tree canopy. A round trip takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
🌿
Observe the Rice Paddies Through the SeasonsThe rice fields on both sides of the corridor change with the seasons: fresh green seedlings in spring (April to May), golden rice ears in autumn (September to October) — a striking contrast with the green corridor.
📷
Photography Along the CorridorThe corridor has a strong sense of depth perspective, with the canopy creating a natural frame. Morning light and late-afternoon light angling through the corridor offer the richest layering of light and shadow — the best times for photography.
🏘️
Learn About the Community's StoryThe corridor is maintained entirely by residents. To learn about the Heming Community's community development journey, look for local interpretation sessions or community guided tours — contact the community in advance.
