The Ershui Pink Shower Tree Trail runs along Yuanji Road beside the TRA Jiji Branch Line for about 2 kilometers. Pink shower trees (also called Thai cherry blossom) are planted on both sides of the road; when they bloom in full from March to April, the pink petals cover the road to form a vividly colored flower corridor. The trail runs right next to the railway tracks. Visitors can wait on the wooden platform for a train to pass and capture the scene of a train moving through the flower-filled canopy.

What to see at the Ershui Pink Shower Tree Trail

The pink shower tree (Cassia bakeriana) is native to Southeast Asia and belongs to the legume family. Its flowers appear on bare branches before the leaves, covering the tree in pink blossoms. The appearance is similar enough to Japan's Yoshino cherry that the tree is sometimes called "Thai sakura." The Yuanji Road section was an existing farm road; in recent years, trees were planted densely along the roadside as part of local agricultural promotion, forming a continuous 2-kilometer flower corridor that has become a seasonal attraction at the southern end of Changhua County.

The trail runs directly beside the tracks of the TRA Jiji Branch Line. During the flowering season, visitors can wait at the wooden viewing platform beside the trail for a train to pass. The moment a train passes through the pink flower corridor is a popular photography subject. The peak bloom period is roughly from mid-March to early April. The exact flowering conditions are affected by temperature and vary slightly from year to year; checking current bloom reports before visiting is recommended.
