Renshan Botanical Garden is located in the Zhenshan area of Yuanshan Township, at an elevation of about 300 metres, and is managed by the Yilan Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency. It plants a wide variety of tropical to subtropical species. The grounds have ecological trails and a greenhouse display area. From the higher points you can look out over the Yilan Plain — making it a natural education site in the Yuanshan countryside, well suited for a half-day walk.

Highlights of Renshan Botanical Garden

Renshan Botanical Garden is planned and managed by the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency's (formerly the Council of Agriculture Forestry Bureau) Yilan Branch, with plant germplasm conservation and environmental education as its primary functions. The garden is planted with tropical, subtropical, and temperate species arranged according to elevation and climate, with a greenhouse displaying specialist plants. The trail system extends from the entrance all the way up to a summit observation deck, with moderate gradients; the main route takes about 1.5–2 hours to complete.

At roughly 300 metres elevation, the summit area offers a sweeping view of the entire Yilan Plain. On a clear day you can take in the Lanyang River basin, Yilan City, and the distant coastal line — one of the best vantage points in Yilan County for viewing the plain's topography. In spring (March–May) some plants are in bloom and the ecological trails are livelier; in summer the vegetation is lush with good shade, but mosquitoes increase — bring insect repellent.
