Aimen Beach

The longest beach in Penghu stretches three kilometers, with fine white sand closest to the airport
📍 Penghu · Huxi Township · Aimen Village🏞️ Nature🔖 Penghu's longest beach · Fine white sand · Near the airport

Aimen Beach is the largest natural beach on Penghu's main island, with a shoreline stretching over three kilometers across Aimen, Lintou, and Jianshan villages. The sand is fine and white, the water clear and shallow, and it takes about 10 minutes by car from Magong Airport — making it the first large beach visitors can reach after arriving in Penghu. Tall casuarina windbreaks line the shore, providing rare shaded space along the beach edge, suitable for families or those looking for a simple stroll without planned water activities.

Highlights of Aimen Beach

The southern end of the beach is near Aimen Village, the northern end extends to Jianshan Village, and the middle section connects to the entrance of Lintou Park. The entire beach curves gently, with an unobstructed view of the shoreline from north to south. The sand is fine-grained, the intertidal slope gradual, and at low tide the beach can be dozens of meters wide — ideal for barefoot walking. Summer (June to September) is peak season, when water sports operators offer snorkeling gear rentals and parasailing services; pay attention to water zone control flags and operator safety instructions.

The casuarina belt on the sheltered side of the beach is part of Huxi Township's coastal windbreak system, with simple trails through the trees connecting to Lintou Park. When the tide rises, the water reaches the casuarina grove's edge and the sea takes on a blue-green gradient — ideal for panoramic coastal photography. In the early morning the beach is nearly empty, the light soft and the sand patterns undisturbed; in the evening, the setting sun slants in from the Xiliao direction, casting the beach in golden tones. There is no admission fee; the beach is freely accessible.

How to make the most of it

🏖️
Morning walks are the most comfortableUV rays are intense at noon in summer. From 6 to 8 a.m. the beach is uncrowded, the temperature cool, and the sand patterns intact — perfect for a relaxed stroll and photography.
🌲
Picnicking in the casuarina groveThe windbreak forest behind the beach provides extensive shade. Bring a picnic mat and food to rest under the trees — a great way to escape the summer heat.
🪁
Summer water activitiesFrom June to September, operators on the beach offer parasailing, banana boat rides, and other water activities. Before joining, confirm that the operator holds the proper licenses and safety equipment.
🚶
Walking the full three-village shorelineWalk from the southern end of Aimen Village to the northern end of Jianshan Village — about 3 kilometers in total. Along the way you can observe sand ripples and shell accumulation bands; the walk takes about an hour and is best done at low tide.

Practical information

Getting there & timing

  • From Magong Airport, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes by scooter. Head along County Road 203 toward Huxi; follow the sign for Aimen Village and turn onto the coastal road.
  • There is no formal parking lot along the beach; vehicles park on roadside open ground. Spaces are tight on peak-season weekends, so an early start is recommended.
  • The beach can be visited year-round. March to May and October to November offer pleasant weather and smaller crowds — recommended for non-holiday visits.

Nearby connections

  • From the northern end of the beach you can walk to Lintou Park, which has static military exhibits and a shaded rest area — a good midday break point.
  • Jianshan Fishing Village sits at the northern extension of the beach; a side trip lets you observe the coral-stone fishing village architecture.
