Tiezhan Mountain stands 234 meters above sea level and is the most prominent hill on the Dajia Plain. It takes its name from its resemblance to an iron anvil (tiezhan) used in blacksmithing. The summit holds historical sites including Jian Well and the Yanping Junwang Shrine. The view is wide open, and on clear days you can look out over the mouth of the Dajia River and the Taiwan Strait. It is an important destination for leisure outings and religious visits among residents of the Dajia area.

What to see at Tiezhan Mountain

Tiezhan Mountain stands in the middle of the Dajia Plain surrounded by broad flatlands, which makes this 234-meter hill feel particularly prominent. The Yanping Junwang Shrine on the summit is dedicated to Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga). According to local legend, Jian Well was dug by Zheng Chenggong's troops when they were stationed in Dajia — it is a key site in the area's historical lore. The shrine architecture is well-preserved, and the open forecourt offers a clear view of the Taiwan Strait horizon.

The Tiezhan Mountain National Forest Recreation Area has trails; hiking from the foot to the summit takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Vegetation along the way is dominated by acacia trees, whose yellow flowers dot the hillside when they bloom in spring. A viewing platform at the summit allows a 270-degree panorama of the Dajia Plain, the sandbar at the mouth of the Dajia River, and the distant strait. Dajia is famous for Zhenlan Temple's Mazu procession; Tiezhan Mountain is a historical site within the same religious and cultural sphere and can be visited as part of a Dajia itinerary.
