Daan Seaside Resort

The northernmost point of Taichung's coastal strip — a seaside park with both sandy beach and mangrove ecology
📍 Taichung · Daan District, Haiqian Village🏞️ Nature🔖 Coastal Ecology

Daan Seaside Resort is located at the northernmost end of Taichung's coastal corridor, adjacent to the mouth of the Daan River. It is one of the few seaside parks in Taichung that combines a sandy beach for recreation with a mangrove ecological area for nature observation. During summer (approximately June to September), families and student groups from greater Taichung come here to swim and enjoy the outdoors. The adjacent mangrove reserve offers a different kind of natural experience.

Highlights of Daan Seaside Resort

The park extends along the Taiwan Strait shoreline, with a wide, gently sloping beach suitable for family walks and children playing in the sand. The park includes a campground with space for pitching tents, along with some water play facilities. The sandbar terrain at the mouth of the Daan River is diverse and shifts with the tides, creating dynamic coastal landforms that look different at various times of day. At low tide, the exposed sandbars are ideal for observing intertidal organisms.

The mangrove reserve surrounding the park is home to native mangrove species such as the kandelia tree, representing a rare mangrove habitat within Taichung City limits. Bird diversity is relatively high during the migratory season (autumn and winter), with a good chance of spotting sandpipers, egrets, and other wading birds. Bringing binoculars is recommended; please do not enter the core protected area.
