Lintou Park

Penghu's only comprehensive tourism park, combining casuarina shade with military history
📍 Penghu · Huxi Township · Lintou Village🎨 Cultural Area🔖 Windbreak forest · Static military exhibits · Zhongling Shrine

Lintou Park is the only comprehensive tourism park in Penghu County. The western side of the park faces Lintou Beach, and the eastern side features a large casuarina windbreak. Inside the park stands the Zhongling Shrine — a memorial for fallen soldiers — along with static military displays of early tanks, artillery, and retired aircraft. Compared to most Penghu attractions that rely on natural scenery, Lintou Park offers a rare shaded trail environment, making it one of the few places where visitors can comfortably linger even on rainy days or at noon under the blazing sun.

Highlights of Lintou Park

The park is managed by the Penghu County Government and is free to enter. Its main feature is the densely planted casuarina windbreak, with trails running through the trees providing good shade — a rare shaded leisure space in Penghu. On the southwestern side of the park stands the Zhongling Shrine, built to honor soldiers killed in battles fought in Penghu over the years; the temple precinct has a solemn atmosphere. Adjacent to the temple forecourt are static military exhibits including retired M41 tanks, various artillery pieces, and trainer aircraft, providing a tangible glimpse into Penghu's history as a military stronghold.

The park adjoins Lintou Beach, and trails inside the park lead directly to the shore, creating a combined shaded-forest-and-beach itinerary. Lintou Beach is the middle extension of Aimen Beach, with similar sand quality and scenery; water sports operators are slightly less concentrated here in peak season, making it relatively quiet. Around the Qingming Festival, the Zhongling Shrine holds memorial ceremonies, which offer a deeper sense of the site's historical weight compared to ordinary days. There are no food or drink facilities in the park; bring your own water.

How to make the most of it

🌲
Strolling the shaded trailsThe casuarina belt provides a rare shaded environment in Penghu. Walking the forest trails at midday, the temperature is about 3 to 5 degrees cooler than on the beach — a fine choice for summer heat relief.

Examining the static military exhibitsThe retired tanks and artillery on display can be photographed and examined up close, offering a look at the historical context of Penghu as a key defensive position on Taiwan's western flank.
⛩️
Visiting the Zhongling ShrineThe Zhongling Shrine is an architecturally dignified building honoring soldiers who fell in Penghu's various battles. If you visit during the Qingming Festival or Lunar New Year, you may witness formal memorial ceremonies — maintain a respectful quiet.

The combined forest-to-beach routePark trails lead directly to Lintou Beach. Rest under the shade first, then head to the shore for a walk by the water — two very different environments just a few minutes apart on foot.
