Taichung Creative Cultural Park

A former Japanese colonial brewery given new life — a historic industrial complex reborn as a cultural hub in the South District
📍 Taichung · South District, Fuxing Road🎨 Cultural Venue🔖 Cultural Regeneration

Taichung Creative Cultural Park occupies the former Taichung Winery, established in 1916. The historic industrial buildings of the old brewery have been preserved in full, maintaining their Japanese colonial-era character. Now managed by the Ministry of Culture as a base for the creative industries, the park regularly hosts art exhibitions, cultural markets, and various events. It is the most representative example of adaptive reuse of historic buildings in Taichung's South District.

Highlights of Taichung Creative Cultural Park

The Taichung Winery was built in 1916 during the Japanese colonial period and was an important production centre for Taiwan's brewing industry. The complex includes brewery workshops, warehouse clusters, office buildings, and other structures, with a mix of brick and reinforced concrete construction reflecting the building techniques of different eras. After the winery relocated, the old site was transferred to the Ministry of Culture for renovation and formally opened as a creative cultural park in 2004, making it one of the earliest cultural and creative industry parks in Taiwan.

The park preserves multiple historic structures used for exhibitions, studios, and markets, with both permanent and rotating shows presenting work across visual art, design, and craft. The atmosphere is open and relaxed, and the building exteriors can be freely photographed. It suits visitors who enjoy historic architecture and a creative atmosphere.
