Ziguan Cultural Hall

A repository of Kezirliao fishing village history, showcasing oyster aquaculture culture
📍 Kaohsiung · Ziguan District, Ziguan Town Area🎨 Cultural Park🔖 Fishing Village History · Oyster Shell Crafts

Ziguan District is known for the Kezirliao fishing community and its large-scale oyster aquaculture industry. The Cultural Hall collects historical materials documenting local fishing village life and displays oyster shell crafts and everyday objects from the fishing village. Oyster raft aquaculture is still visible in the coastal waters, and an annual seafood festival gives local aquatic culture a public-facing platform.

Highlights of Ziguan Cultural Hall

Ziguan District sits on the northwestern coast of Kaohsiung. Kezirliao is the most representative fishing community in the district, where the traditional practice of cultivating oysters on bamboo raft structures has continued for generations. Ziguan Cultural Hall holds a collection of historical photographs, fishing tools, and oyster shell craft items from the local fishing village, presenting in small-exhibition format the story of Ziguan's growth from a small fishing village into a modern aquaculture settlement. The hall is modest in scale — well suited to a calm, thorough visit.

At Kezirliao Fishing Harbor you can observe moored fishing boats and the shoreside oyster-processing operations. Oyster raft floats are still visible in the coastal waters, forming the distinctive coastal aquaculture landscape of Ziguan. Seafood restaurants and fresh-oyster direct-sale stalls are clustered near the fishing harbor, serving freshly harvested oysters and various catches. The annual autumn-winter seafood festival is Ziguan's most festive tourist event.
